My name is Taber and I have been an registered New York State Occupational Therapist for 11 years. At Rehab2Home, we have a wide variety of experience with pelvic floor therapy as well as occupational therapy services for both older adult and pediatric populations.
As a practicing occupational therapist, I have spent the last 11 years working with the geriatric population in a sub-acute rehabilitation facility. I have had the pleasure of working closely with families and patients as they navigate the waters of understanding the rehabilitation process and guiding them through the process if a higher level of care is warranted.
I have spent 12 years working with the pediatric population and 8 of those years as an occupational therapist. I work with children at the preschool level through high school level. I work on skills needed to be successful in a school based setting such as sensory regulation, bilateral coordination skills, visual motor and visual perceptual skills. I am not limited to just this scope. I have had the pleasure of working closely with families to ensure their child receives the correct services and guides them through the school based process.
Pelvic floor therapy is a type of treatment that helps strengthen the muscles at the bottom of the pelvis—the muscles that support the bladder, bowels, and other organs. As we age, these muscles can get weaker, which may lead to problems like leaking urine, constipation, or feeling the need to use the bathroom often. Pelvic floor therapy teaches exercises and techniques to make these muscles stronger and more coordinated. For older adults, this can mean fewer bathroom accidents, better control, less discomfort, and more confidence in daily life. It can also help with balance, posture, and overall core strength, making everyday activities safer and easier.
At Rehab2Home we work with families and clients to assist them in whatever point they are in their lives whether the goal continues to remain at home, finding the perfect fit for rehabilitation or navigating the waters of the process to a higher level of care, needing advocating services for their child at the school level and guiding them through the special education process, and gaining the confidence in daily life with less pain, urgency, and leakages.
